Nanako Mizuki
A young female student that Eikichi meets his first day student teaching. In fact, she is the first student he makes contact with and the first Eikichi flits with. She fulfills all his dreams of what he thinks teaching is going to be like having appeared from PE wearing a uniform of just bloomers and T-shirt. Once Eikichi meets the delinquent class he is to teach, it seems that Nanako Mizuki, or Nana as her friends call her, is his one ray of hope. But when walking home one Saturday night, Eikichi finds a distressed Mizuki waiting for him and he takes her back to his place, fantasies flowing through his mind. Once in his apartment, she fixes him some sukiyaki and tells him of her home life. She tells him her father wants her to have an arranged marriage and that this is the reason she has run away and doesn’t want to go back. She proceeds to throw herself at him, even undressing down to her underwear. While Eikichi struggles with his morals, a group of boys from the class burst in and take pictures of them. Luckily, the street smart Eikichi deals with the situation and passes the teacher torture “test” that Mizuki herself developed. But soon it becomes apparent that the seemingly happy Mizuki has problems of her own. She is unhappy with how her family life is and just wants things to go back to the way they were before her parents became successful. Lucky for her, Eikichi is serious about becoming a great teacher and shows up one night to bust down the wall that separates her parent’s rooms. This action gives Mizuki the strength to fight to save her family’s relationships.

Go to fullsize imageKanzaki Urumi

Hell hath no fury like Kanzaki Urumi. Urumi is a genius with an IQ of 200. Her appearance alone makes her an interesting character. She has natural blonde hair, her right eye is blue, and her left eye is brown. She is fluent in multiple languages, including Japanese, French, Mandarin Chinese, and English. Ever since being betrayed by her teacher in Elementary School, she has been causing 'JyuGyou Tero' (Class terror). She has targeted teachers, screwing with their minds, or physically hurting them. She has successfully forced many teachers to quit. Anyone else who gets in her way faces her wrath as well. She had long since stopped going to school, but was called in by Aizawa Miyabi to get rid of Onizuka. Urumi's dark secret is her one soft spot.

Nomura Tomoko

Nomura Tomoko is most often reffered to as 'Toroko'. Toroko is a play on the word 'Toroi' meaning 'slow' or 'stupid' and Tomoko's name. Of course, Toroko really is slow, so she doesn't mind being called 'slow girl'. Toroko is a typical cutesy girl, and she can be a real airhead. She is very innocent and easily influenced. Toroko is often made fun of by girls for her large breasts (She wears a F cup!). Toroko's favorite foods are Miso Ramen (Chinese style noodles with a Miso soup base) and Takoyaki (Fried octopus balls). Her trademark phrase is 'Pikorin!', which is equivalent to the American 'Ding Dong!' doorbell sound. She dreams of one day becoming the most famous idol in Japan.

Fujiyoshi Koji

One of the boys in the main group of boys in this story. He doesn't have much of a part until volume 9 or so. He has many brothers and sisters, and his family is poor. He also loves Miyabi and drags her secret out of her eventually. He's a hard worker and has a strong sense of honor (mostly likely fromOnizuka’s influence). He's the sort of guy anyone would want as a friend. Yup.

Kusano Tadaaki

One of the boys in <Murai’s group not much known about him except that he has a VERY ugly mother Fujisawa-sensei has pity on him around volume 20 or so and lets him become obsessed with one of the new female characters (Tokiwa Ai). He even becomes a little perverted (almost steals her urine sample) and is very confused/embarrassed about his feelings.

Kujirakawa Fuyumi

<>Murai and later, Murai on her. She is a manga-otaku (yaaaay!) and is in the manga club even though famous sports schools and coaches have been begging her to become a professional sports type person. Despite what most people think, she is actually quite girlish

Fukada

Kusano’s first love ^-^; A cute, silly girl on the surface, but underneath, she’s a martial arts freak with a HUGE grudge against men. She is, however, brought to justice by Onizuka and Kikuchi. When she fights, she sort of reminds me of Xaoiu (or however you spell that), that silly Chinese fighting chick in the school uniform from Tekken III.

Shibuya Sho

Daimon’s "Angels". He seems to be a teased, bullied boy (much like <Yoshikawa was at the beginning of the series), but he’s sneakier and more devious than you’d think. He also has some sort of close relationship with Daimon

Miyamori Yuuki

Wow, a pretty boy in a shounen manga!! Yaaaay! ^^; He was enrolled in Onizuka’s class the whole time, but never showed. Onizuka went to visit his house one day, to tell him to come to school only to discover that his family was in the mob!! Yuuki, however, is just a simple boy who likes video games. He and Yoshikawa become good friends. (duh).

FUKA-chan

A girl in love with Murai. Would say more, but it would give away a funny part of the story. She also only exists in the manga. What a shame. What a shame.

Gundam Otaku (Mishima Gunji, Tokida Haruo, Shirai Mokuba)

They only have a short cameo in volume 12 or so, but they were so hilarious I put them in >: )= On a school trip to Okinawa, <Onizuka arranges it so that people of different sexes share rooms. It ends up that >Urumi is alone with these three Gundam otaku. And because she looks like a certain sailor senshi...well, you can probably guess what kind of hell she has to go through

Aizawa Miyabi

Among the students, Aizawa hates Onizuka the most. Eventually all the students end up liking Onizuka, but Aizawa refuses to let go her hatred of Onizuka. She becomes obsessed with getting Onizuka fired, by any means necessary. Since manga issue 14 she has dyed her hair blue.

Go to fullsize imageUehara Anko

Uehara comes from a rich family, and her mother happens to be head of the PTA. At first she seems to be a stuck up spoiled brat, but she actually has a good side. She eventually gives up on trying to get Onizuka fired, but still thinks of him as a nuisance. She has had bad experiences with her brother and a past boyfriend, so she doesn't have much trust in boys, and usually sticks to her girlfriends.

Go to fullsize imageKikuchi Yoshito

Kikuchi, like Urumi, is a genius with an IQ of 180. He's a computer expert and proficient in Karate. He can be pretty evil if he has to, but unlike Urumi, he has morals. Kikuchi is the most level headed character in the series, and stays pretty cool even in extreme situations. He's always serious and not the type to joke around.

Go to fullsize imageMurai Kunio

Murai is the typical badass. He talks big and has a short temper, but on the inside he's actually a mama's boy. When he gets out of line his mom puts him back in place. He's basically the class bully. Definitely the most mischievous of the students, but he isn't really bright enough to cause any serious trouble.

Go to fullsize imageYoshikawa Noboru

Yoshikawa is the class dork. He's a master at videogames, and loves anime. He doesn't really get pushed around by the guys, but the girls pick on him non-stop. He's attempted suicide a few times, but Onizuka managed to stop or save him each time. He's the first student at Tokyo Kissho Academy to become friends with Onizuka. He often goes to Onizuka's room to help Onizuka out with videogames.

Wakui Mayu

Mayu is the grandson of Sakurai Ryoko, so despite being one of the biggest troublemakers at Tokyo Kissho Academy, he gets away with almost anything. Like Urumi, Mayu hadn't been going to school, but was called in by Aizawa to deal with Onizuka. Mayu is a drug addict, and apparently is proficient in Karate, since he handles himself very well in fights. He loves to make awful practical jokes, and is a real danger to his enemies and also, himself.

Hidemi Ohta

Only appearance:  Anime>Volume 3-Lesson 12 up to Lesson Volume 5-Lesson 15, Manga>Volume 5-Lesson 40 up to Volume 6-Lesson 50.

Doesn't go to Holy Forest Academy, but one of the few links she has with it is one Suguru Teshigawara.  Another one of those spoiled, rich kids with some class and priviledge who tries to take advantage of everything that's there.  Doesn't very much of men... and she had Teshigawara as her tutor and slave (as unofficial 'payment' for the class, status, things that the Ohtas did for him that he wanted).  Sick little girl (the foot licking thing).  Tried making Onizuka her slave... but that didn't work.  Something happens where she gets to see just how Onizuka can truly act under an intense and dangerous situation.

**Note that the last name can be spelled differently, either depending on version or consistency throughout the series.  It can be "Ohta," "Oda," or "Ota."

Hitomi Kizaki

Only appearance:  Anime VERSION ONLY>Volume 5-Lessons 21 & 22

Lives with her father  out in Hokuba, where she helps him run a nice little bed and breakfast.  Both the anime (Volume 5) and the manga (Volume 9) have an event where the girls (in Miss Fuyutsuki's class, Class 3-2) get jealous because all the guys seem to like Miss Fuyutsuki more than they do.  Several little attempts made by the girls to scare Miss Fuyutsuki forces the teacher to evaluate things and dwell on the past.  In the anime, this sequence is longer and thus enables us to learn more about Miss Fuyutsuki.  Anyway... she use to be so close to Miss Fuyutsuki, but her hatred of teachers changed it.  It took some talking (especially from Onizuka) to get some things straight.  All of this started because of the actions of one Miss Sagara.

Mizuki Yokoyama

Only appearance:  Anime ONLY Volume 10-Lessons 42 and 43

She used to be a student at Holy Forest Academy, in Class 4 along with Aizawa (and Murai, Kikuchi, Kusano...) during their 2nd year at Holy Forest.  Something so bad happened that she left the school, and eventually comitted suicide.  She had so much going for her... including having good friends (including Aizawa), and being a very smart and talented student.  Yeah... she probably could have graduated with honors (beating out Kanzaki and Kikuchi even)  What happened that led to all of this?  Watch the anime to find out...
